Strontian to Polloch. OS Landranger 1:50,000, Map 40

Strontian NM 815 617 12 miles/19km return Road cycling From the shores of Loch Sunart at Strontian to the shores of Loch Shiel at Polloch, this out-and-back route is a little-known climb in Sunart to the west of Fort William. The views are spectacular with a real feeling of remoteness but the climb is tough with sections reaching gradients of 17%. Leaving Strontian, the road starts to head upwards from the off, but it is not until a mile into the route that the gradients start to steepen. Towards the summit the percentages reach and stay in double figures. If you are a glutton for punishment you can cycle down to Polloch then try the climb from the harder north side.
