Region faces ongoing battle

More than two dozen people died in Dundee as a result of drugs in 2015.

In all, 48 drug deaths occurred in Tayside during the same year.

The statistics were compiled and published by the Tayside Drug Death Review and Working Groups, who published a wide-ranging report on regional drug abuse in August 2016.

As part of the publication, it was revealed that four dozen drug deaths were recorded in Tayside in 2015.

Deaths in Dundee reduced while those in Angus and Perth and Kinross increased.

The Dundee area witnessed 28 drug deaths, Angus 12, eight fatalities in Perth and Kinross and 31 individuals died in Fife in 2015.
