Pensioner dies after being hit by bus

A 70-year-old woman has died after being hit by a bus in Edinburgh.

The pensioner was struck by a Lothian Bus at around 9.15am yesterday in the Davidson’s Mains area of the city. She died at the scene.

The collision took place at the junction of Quality Street and Main Street.

Police Scotland have appealed for witnesses as investigat­ions at the scene continue.

Inspector Stuart Mitchell, of Drylaw Police Station, said: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family at this very difficult time and we continue to offer them support.

“Our inquiries into this collision are ongoing and we’d ask anyone who can help to come forward.

“Anyone who may have witnessed this collision and has not yet spoken to officers is urged to get in touch.”
