Scougall on Saints’ radar
St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright has targeted former Livingston midfielder Stefan Scougall, writes Gordon Bannerman.
The 24-year-old playmaker, who has been released by League One champions Sheffield United, looked on from the stand as Saints qualified for the Europa League with a 1-0 win over Partick Thistle.
With top scorer Danny Swanson heading for Hibs in the summer, Wright sees Scougall as the ideal replacement.
The manager was eager to sign Scougall in January but the player decided to stay at Bramall Lane.
He has clocked-up more than 70 appearances for the Blades since a £400,000 move in 2014 and sparkled on loan last year under Steven Pressley at Fleetwood.
After being released by United, along with another former Livingston product, Marc McNulty, Scougall admitted: “It’s been a real roller-coaster to say the least with some lows but many highs.”
