McGoldrick leaves New Bayview

-

East Fife boss Barry Smith is on the lookout for a new assistant following Kevin McGoldrick’s departure from the club.

He only joined the Methil side in February after a spell working for Manchester City in China.

However, McGoldrick has now moved on and Smith will begin to explore his options with regard to appointing a new right-hand man.

The manager said: “It was previously agreed that Kevin would leave in the summer.

“He goes with all our best wishes for the future.

“I do not have a replacement in the pipeline at the moment but I have a few ideas of who I would like to speak to and I have not ruled out looking for a player-assistant.”

McGoldrick announced his departure on social media saying: “After some consideration, I have decided to quit as assistant manager of East Fife. Thank you to players, board and supporters.”

Meanwhile, East Fife are edging closer to persuading key player Jonathan Page to stay at the club for another season with the defender hopefully putting pen to paper on a new deal later this week. Dunfermline Athletic goalkeeper David Hutton is to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of this month.

The 31 -year-old shot-stopper joined the Pars last summer after a successful trial period but has only featured in 14 games due to the form of Sean Murdoch.
