Gunning leaves Grimsby

Former Dundee United defender Gavin Gunning is set to be in demand in Scotland again after he was released by Grimsby Town just four months after joining them from Morton.

Queen of the South are one of the Scottish clubs keen to speak to the 26-year-old one-time Blackburn Rovers and Motherwell centre-back who had two spells at Tannadice with stops at Birmingham City and Oldham in-between.

Morton also announced yesterday that former Dundee United attacker Kudus Oyenuga was among those released by the club.
