Man is due to appear in court over Dundee death
Neighbour tells of heartbreak at loss of ‘best pal’
A man is due to appear in court today in connection with the death of Dundee grandfather Gary McMillan.
The arrest of the 31-year-old suspect was confirmed by police last night.
Mr McMillan, 44, died following an incident in the city’s Lawton Terrace in the early hours of Tuesday.
A murder inquiry was launched by Police Scotland.
The force said it was continuing to investigate the case and urged anyone with information which may help to come forward.
It said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of Gary McMillan, who died at Lawton Terrace, Dundee, on Tuesday May 16.
“The male will appear from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court on Thursday May 18.
“Inquiries continue and the patience of the local community is appreciated,” it added.
“Anyone with any information regarding the incident should contact Tayside Division on 101 or speak to any police officer.”
Mr McMillan’s neighbour, Yvonne Muktar, said that she had been left “heartbroken” by the death of her “best pal”.
Ms Muktar said: “My heart is broken. He was my pal.
“He used to have parties and ask me to look after his dog, Floyd.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen to it but I will look after it.”
The major investigation launched after the discovery of Mr McMillan’s body on Tuesday morning saw Lawton Terrace and part of Lawton Road sealed off while forensic officers scoured the scene for clues.
Flowers were left on an area of grassland close to where Mr McMillan’s body had been found.
Armed police visited a number of addresses around Dundee on Tuesday night as they searched for the person suspected of being responsible.
