Teen makes Scottish team

-

A Perthshire teenager is continuing to make his mark on the clay pigeon shooting scene in Scotland.

Marcus Nicol has put more titles under his belt this season and has changed disciplines, now shooting Federation Internationale de Tir Aux Sportives de Chasse (FITASC), which features 100 targets in four positions, and Sporting.

All this coupled with a change of gun to a Caesar Guerini has secured him his third cap leading the Scotland junior team alongside new caps Cayleigh Will, of Aberdeen, and Lewis Turnbull, who studies at Strathallan School, for the ICTSF World Sporting Championships to be held at Kelmarsh Hall Estate next month.

The teams selected consist of three veterans, five seniors, a ladies team of three shooters, and the junior team of three.

Selection was made from five 100 Sporting bird days from March to May.

Marcus will shoot 100 birds each day over three days in the competition – an experience he relishes.

Marcus, a pupil at the Community School of Auchterarder, said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been selected as part of the Scotland Sporting Team, particularly as I really enjoy this discipline.

“This will differ from the home international in that I will be shooting alongside competitors from all over the world.

“I love the sport but to keep up this standard of shooting proves very expensive.”
