Back to medieval times for gala

-

Knights, princesses and the odd mythical creature or two will descend upon the Carse on Saturday as Errol stages its annual gala day.

Hundreds of local residents are expected to join in the fun, which will begin with the traditional noon parade down the High Street.

The gala princess will be unveiled and youngsters will have the chance to show off their medieval-themed costumes.

Away from the parade, there will be all manner of activities including pony rides, football, pillow fights and a pet show.

There will also be musical entertainment from Carse Voices and displays of Highland Dancing and street dance.

Gala organiser Sue Johnston said: “We always get the kids to dress up and this year we gave the pupils at Errol Primary School four themes to choose from.

“Wild West and Scottish were a poor second to medieval and Hollywood and medieval eventually won out.

“Rather than just have everyone dressed as knights and princesses we decided to broaden the theme out to include mythical creatures.”

Sue added: “The event always has a great feel to it and really brings the whole community together.

“I hope people will be out in force again on Saturday.”

The gala kicks off at the Cross at noon before the parade heads to the park for the rest of the activities and refreshments.
