Punters can take some stock with Replenish

Back all-weather specialist to strike again on synthetic Newcastle surface

REPLENISH has a fine chance to atone for a no-show at Newmarket last month when he rocks up at Newcastle.

James Fanshawe’s charge has won three of his 12 starts to date and given each of those successes has come on a synthetic surface, he really does appear to be shaping into something of an allweather specialist.

The four-year-old is not totally devoid of skills on the turf with a couple of second places to his name, most notably behind the well-regarded Dal Harraild, but it seems he does save his best for the sand.

Indeed, his return effort at Lingfield in April, on what was his first start since a gelding operation, promised much as he chased home Takatul in third, beaten just three-quarters of a length in a race that was not run to suit.

Fanshawe then headed to Newmarket last month but pitched into a competitive affair on soft ground, Replenish finished last of six after having failed to get going at all.

ACCESSION has been dropping down the ratings a bit of late and might be on something of a more workable figure in the Betfred “Supports Jack Berry House” Handicap.

The five-year-old paid a heavy price for his six-length victory at Newmarket last April, shooting up to a mark of 100 which he has so far struggled a bit to deal with.

He is back down to 96 now, his lowest perch since that Headquarters win, and given he has shown ability on the all-weather before, he is worth a shot in what appears to be a marginally easier task than he has faced of late.

DIAMOND looks like it might go off at an attractive price and take the honours in the Thistle Bloodstock Maiden Stakes.
