Calls for urgent investigation as trust tells of ‘tipping point’ in places
The Scottish Government has been urged to launch an urgent investigation into housing developments across Perth and Kinross amid worries of policies being ignored
Kinross-shire Civic Trust has asked it to look into the functions of the local planning process.
In particular, it fears several communities risk becoming overdeveloped and has also been angered by the lack of sticking to local development plans.
They identify land suitable for housing but in a number of cases development proposals have been for numbers much larger than those recommended.
Efforts are also being made by campaigners in Kinross-shire to unite with other opposition groups elsewhere in Perthshire. Housing plans for North Scone, Luncarty – 100 objections and counting – Blairgowrie and Rattray have all come under fire in recent weeks.
The trust’s Ken Miles said: “I think we are at a tipping point now in regard to all these developments across the whole Perth and Kinross Council area.
“Like many other community organisations, the trust is unwilling to tolerate the lack of adherence to agreed planning policies and breach of procedure that appear to be regularly taking place.
“I think people feel they have had quite enough and are getting involved and taking a stand.”
