Drivers warned to be aware of Kincardine Bridge closures
A series of night-time closures of the Kincardine Bridge will start next week as the fourth phase of essential resurfacing and waterproofing gets under way.
The £350,000 work, which includes the replacement of the road surface, bridge deck waterproofing and new expansion joints on two of the south viaduct spans, is needed to ensure the safety of an important stretch of the A985.
Starting each night from Tuesday July 18, bridge closures will need to be put in place from 8pm-6am until the morning of Saturday July 22 to prepare for the roadworks and see a temporary safety barrier moved.
From the latter date there will be a single lane closure on the westbound carriageway, switching over to the eastbound carriageway on Sunday August 6.
Weather permitting, roads contractors hope the repairs will be completed by Friday August 25.
Traffic from the A876 North Approach Road will be prevented from turning right towards the Kincardine Bridge and will instead be directed to the Longannet roundabout and back again.
Under the eastbound nighttime bridge closures, diversions will be put in place from the Longannet Roundabout to the A977 Toll Road through Kincardine and Kilbagie and drivers will be diverted to the first exit along the A876 Clackmannanshire Bridge southbound.
Under the westbound closures, at Higgins Neuk roundabout traffic will be diverted north along the Clackmannanshire Bridge, to the A977 Toll Road through Kilbagie and Kincardine to the Longannet (Toll) roundabout.
