Heroin Kinder surprise at prison

-

A prisoner who agreed to hide more than £2,000-worth of heroin for dealers because he was in debt to them has been jailed for 32 months.

Paul Hamilton from Dundee concealed three Kinder eggs full of drugs inside his body, Perth Sheriff Court was told.

However, Hamilton’s agreement to provide a “safe place” for the illicit substances ended in failure after the heroin was swiftly discovered.

The court heard the 37-year-old was placed in an observation cell at Perth Prison after he was suspected of being “under the influence of unknown substances”.

The following day he was being readied for hospital when a first egg containing a brown powder made a reappearance.

Another was “discovered” upon his return.

It also contained packages of brown powder, as a well as a list of names.

All of those named were serving prisoners with known drug habits. A third egg was found beneath a mattress in Hamilton’s cell.

Hamilton, of Malcolm Street in Dundee, admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin between October 10 and 12 last year.

Sheriff Lindsay Foulis said: “You may very well have been the subject of pressure but the problem is that if you get involved in drugs in any way you can incur debts.

“Creditors in the drug market are not known to play by the rules of normal society.”
