Perthshire club triumphs at Golf Tourism Awards for third time
Blairgowrie Golf Club is celebrating its third success in four years at the Scottish Golf Tourism Awards.
The Perthshire club won the best clubhouse accolade in a public vote, seeing off competition from Trump International Golf Links and Castle Stuart Golf Links.
The award comes after Blairgowrie collected the best pro shop title in 2014 and best golf course in the £50 to £100 category in 2016.
The venue was also nominated in the best course and best value in the £50-£100 range categories this year.
Club captain Brian Wesencraft said it was another tremendous accolade for the club.
“As it was voted for by the golfing public, our iconic clubhouse is clearly as highly regarded by visitors as by our members,” he said.
“It is a remarkable achievement given the prestigious clubs that we had for company on the shortlist.
“We have a clubhouse which is recognised throughout the golfing world and this success reflects well on our managing secretary, Steven Morgan, and his enthusiastic and professional team who work so hard to maintain and improve our facilities.”
The distinctive Blairgowrie clubhouse opened in 1939 and underwent a major renovation and extension in 2004.
The gala awards dinner came at the conclusion of an event showcasing golf in Scotland to an international audience.
Mr Morgan added: “We crammed in 42 meetings over two days and spoke to tour operators and boutique businesses, promoting not just Blairgowrie Golf Club but Perth and Kinross as a destination.”
