Glasgow road disruption ending

-

The company carrying out emergency repairs to the gas network on Glasgow Road, Perth, has promised the work should be completed in the next few days.

Councillor Willie Wilson had contacted the company as the work opposite the leisure pool is the latest disruption to traffic on the busy road.

“Last year SGN carried out extensive work to the gas mains in Glasgow Road ,” he said.

“On two occasions the works continued for many weeks. I was led to believe at the time that the extent of the works meant that all the technical issues with the gas mains had been addressed.

“Like many other residents I was surprised to see work here again.

“I have taken the matter up with SGN who now advise that major renewal work is planned for the future .

“I have no doubt the work is needed. The frequency and length of work, however, is very disruptive to all vehicular traffic using Glasgow Road – especially at peak times.

“I am writing again to SGN to seek greater clarity on the extent and timing of the current work and what their forward plans are.”

Gas distribution firm SGN’s Bradley Barlow said he was confident the work would be completed this week.

“We are sorry about the inconvenience caused and thank road users for their patience while essential emergency works are carried out,” he said.
