Laura Muir retained her Scottish 4km cross-country title at Kirkcaldy High School as she raced for the first time since the London World Championsh­ips last August, writes our athletics correspond­ent. Representi­ng Glasgow University, the Milnathort athlete carved out a 10-second advantage over the opening lap of Kirkcaldy athlete Stephie Pennycook (Edinburgh Univ). Muir piled on the pace over the second lap stretching her lead to 54s to claim gold for the fourth time in five years in a time of 12:53 (see report on page 48).
