But Dark Blues ace hopes it will be Rangers players feeling full force of his tackles this time

Dundee’s Jack Hendry became an internet sensation the last time his side played Rangers at Ibrox after completing a superb tackle – on his own team-mate.

The big centre-half’s challenge on Cammy Kerr “went viral” and was watched thousands of times all over the globe.

As Kerr tracked back towards his goal, Hendry advanced and there was no holding back as he cleared out the ball and his full-back.

Now, as he prepares to face the Glasgow side again tonight at Dens, the 22-year-old former Partick and Wigan defender is hoping it will be the opposition feeling the full force of his tackles.

Hendry said: “That video got a few views on the internet – and this time I will be looking to tackle the Rangers players, not our own.

“I did shout at Cammy, to be fair, but we were both determined to get the ball and it was one of those things.

“It was quite funny and with videos like that when it goes on the internet there’s always a chance it could go viral.

“I got a lot of feedback from it. I think a lot of people found it really funny and there was no harm done.

“Cammy was fine after it. I did shout at him that I was going for the ball so it was just a breakdown in communication.

“It would have been worse if I hadn’t shouted, but everyone saw the funny side.

“Cammy didn’t say much about it, we just had a laugh about it ourselves.”

Hendry helped his side keep what was their first clean sheet of the season last week in the 0-0 draw with Kilmarnock.

The result also brought to a halt a run of five defeats in a row and the defender is hoping the Killie game will prove to be a big step in the right direction.

However, he is wary of a wounded Rangers side who are still smarting after losing 2-0 at home to Hamilton.

He added: “It was great to get the first clean sheet of the season against Kilmarnock because it gives us something to build on.

“It is a confidence booster for the lads at the back ahead of playing Rangers.

“It wasn’t playing on our minds because I think we have been doing well, it has just been individual mistakes leading to goals.

“We knew if we could cut them out, then the clean sheets would come.

“But we have to keep it going. Any time you play Rangers it’s going to be a tough game and with them coming off the back of a defeat they will be right up for changing that.

“It was a surprise to the whole of the league to see Hamilton go there and get two goals to win.

“I think Rangers had a lot of chances so it could have been different, but it was a good result for Hamilton and not so good for Rangers.”

With first-choice keeper Scott Bain currently the subject of an internal disciplinary process, Elliott Parish has been between the sticks in the last two games against Hibs and Killie.

And Hendry admitted he has been impressed by the experienced Englishman, who has previously played at the likes of Aston Villa and Cardiff City.

He said: “Elliott is a good, experienced goalkeeper who has done really well so far. It’s part of football that other players come into the team.

“He communicates well and will be happy to have a clean sheet so soon.

“He’s a good talker, he’s played at good clubs with good players before so he’s a decent addition to the team.”
