Book Week events get under way
Libraries across Perth and Kinross will be staging special celebrations of reading as Book Week Scotland returns.
The venues will host a fine line-up of writers who will be reading from their work and offering an insight into their craft until Sunday.
Participants will include writers of crime and children’s fiction, best-selling authors and television and radio celebrities.
The event begins at the Strathearn Community Library this evening, when criminal defence lawyer William McIntyre will explore the gulf between law and justice in his fiction series The Best Defence.
BBC Radio presenter Theresa Talbot will then share tales about her novel writing – including her psychological drama Penance, based on the real-life events that closed the Glasgow Magdalene Institution – at Blairgowrie Library tomorrow.
Fife farmer James Oswald will bring his Edinburghbased detective thrillers to life at Auchterarder Library on Thursday.
And legendary rock DJ Tom Russell will offer a behind-thescenes look at his life at the AK Bell in Perth on Friday.
Tom has helped uncover some of the great rock bands to come out of Scotland and has interviewed all the biggest names, including AC/DC, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica and Rush.
