Ciftci backing Tangerines to kick on for promotion

-

Nadir Ciftci last night tipped tabletopping Dundee United to ‘kick on’ and surge towards a Premiership return.

Former United star Ciftci is thrilled to see his old club leading the race for promotion as they sit a point above closest rivals St Mirren.

Ciftci, who starred for the Tangerines between 2013-2015, is urging Csaba Laszlo’s men to clinch top-flight football again and reckons they have the impetus to step up their title charge as the festive period approaches.

Ciftci, who is currently on loan at Plymouth Argyle from Celtic, said: “United are starting to look good at just the right time.

“This is a vital period leading up to Christmas and they seem to have the bit between their teeth.

“I know the Championship is a very difficult league but I wouldn’t be surprised if they really kicked on from here.

“Being top of the table is a massive boost for confidence and I can see them increasing the gap over the next few weeks.

“They have quality within their squad and the new manager seems to be getting the best out of them.

“We all know what a return to the Premiership would mean for everyone associated with the club and the city itself.

“It could be hard for anyone to catch them if they reach their true potential in the coming weeks.”
