Film festival promises adventure stories at dizzying heights

-

The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour will hit new heights when it arrives in Perthshire next month.

The event will bring big screen stories of derring-do and adventure to Pitlochry when the tour hits the festival theatre for matinee and evening screenings on February 3.

The festival offers audiences the opportunity to travel the world and experience a selection of exhilarating, inspirational and unforgettable adventures from the contrasting comfort of a theatre chair.

The tour showcases a diverse collection of the newest films from the global mountain culture and sports community.

Films are chosen from hundreds of entries to the prestigious Banff Mountain Film Festival, which takes place every year in the Canadian Rockies.

The UK and Ireland tour starts in Edinburgh today, visiting nearly 60 locations with 105 shows along the way.

Programme highlights include The Frozen Road, the tale of Yorkshireman Ben Page who embarks on a solo bikepacking journey across the Canadian Arctic.

Into Twin Galaxies – a Greenland Epic is an extreme tale of kite skiers and whitewater kayakers.

Tour director Nell Teasdale said: “This is the first time we’ve topped 100 shows in the UK and Ireland, which is really exciting.

“UK and Irish audiences have a huge passion for adventure, so we’re delighted to be able to share these amazing films and their intrepid characters with wider audiences and even more venues.

“We guarantee the tour will inspire viewers to start planning their own outdoor adventures.”
