Four decades of African pictures will be focus for final lecture
A photographer who has spent more than 40 years taking pictures in Africa will give a talk in Perth’s Salutation Hotel on Tuesday.
Harry Hook will present a public lecture on his photographic adventures as a guest of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society (RSGS).
His talk, titled About Africa: In Pictures, will focus predominantly on the theme of migration, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.
Mike Robinson, chief executive of the RSGS, said: “We are very much looking forward to welcoming Harry to Perth. His talk is set to be beautifully illustrated with photographs from his collection, so it will be fascinating to discover the deeper meaning and stories behind some of his most exquisite images.
“This is a must for anyone with a passion for photography, travel, physical spaces or human geography.”
As a photographer for Getty Images, Mr Hook’s work has been published by leading newspapers and magazines around the world.
He has also worked as an award-winning film writer, producer and director.
The event will run from 7.30pm until 9pm.
Tickets can be bought online via the RSGS website. Some may also be available on the door.
Mr Hook’s lecture will be the last of the 2017/18 RSGS Inspiring People series in Perth.
