NHS Fife officer suspended amid allegations
Investigation into misconduct claim is currently being carried out
A senior NHS Fife boss has been suspended.
Professor Scott McLean, who is the chief operating officer in charge of acute services, has not been behind his desk since last November.
The 42-year-old has been suspended, on full pay, while an investigation is carried out into alleged misconduct.
It is unclear when he was suspended, but his last action on the social media site, Twitter, as COO was on November 10.
Mystery shrouds the allegations made against Mr McLean.
NHS Fife would not discuss the claims made against the senior executive but there were calls for the investigation into his alleged behaviour to be “comprehensive and transparent”.
NHS Fife made no comment other than issuing a statement from the director of workforce, Barbara Anne Nelson, who said: “NHS Fife has a legal responsibility to protect the privacy of its employees, and is therefore, unable to comment on matters relating to individual staff members, past or present.”
Mr McLean was appointed chief operating officer for acute services in 2015, a post which carries a wage of between £74,000 and £100,000.
Local MSP Claire Baker said: “Whilst we do not know many details about this specific case, it is vital that NHS Fife are seen to be acting in a comprehensive and transparent manner when carrying out any investigation.”
