Spence loving life in top flight

-

Dundee may be involved in a battle down in the bottom six of the Premiership but midfielder Lewis Spence is loving every moment.

Spence was a somewhat surprising signing from Dunfermline last summer and suffered an ankle injury that sidelined him between early November and late January.

However, he is back fit and relishing the step-up to the top flight despite the pressure that comes with sitting in ninth position – just four points away from the play-off spot.

Spence has a good chance of starting against St Johnstone at Dens Park on Saturday, with fellow midfielders Paul McGowan and Glen Kamara both suspended.

He said: “I am enjoying it, although the results could be better.

“I was out for 12 weeks and it was frustrating not playing or training.

“Other than that, though, it has been great.

“Everyone has been great with me at Dens. I feel really welcome and I feel like I have fitted in well.

“I have made some good friends and the players here are obviously of a higher standard than at Dunfermline so I am learning off these guys.

“Also, when we are playing other teams, I am coming up against the best central midfielders so I am gaining bits and bobs off them.

“I came to Dundee to play in big stadiums against the best teams in Scotland and I’m getting the chance to do that.”
