Young singers sought for show
A Highland Perthshire choir is appealing for local youngsters to join it for a performance at Pitlochry Festival Theatre next month.
Pitlochry Choral is on the hunt for 20 new singers aged from 10 to 18 to take to the stage with the full choir.
Newcomers will be expected to rehearse on consecutive Sundays prior to the actual performance at the theatre, which will be held at 7.30pm on Saturday April 7.
The sessions will take place at the theatre’s Port Na Craig rehearsal rooms, ahead of the arrival of the full professional cast for the summer season.
Norman Beedie, Pitlochry Choral’s musical director, said: “Young participants need to be able to hold a tune but no acting experience is required.”
Gemma Fairlie, Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s associate director and community education director, said: “This will be a great opportunity for local young people to gain stage experience as a singer, and to broaden their range under the expert tutelage of an internationally renowned conductor and pianist.
“If youngsters love singing then Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s stage is the perfect place to do it.”
Members of Pitlochry Choir will perform choral work from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. Rehearsals will last around 90 minutes.
