Loons snap up former QoS striker on short-term deal
Forfar have signed former Queen of the South striker Dean Brotherston until the end of the season – and the 20-year-old is delighted to end a nomadic period in his career.
Brotherston was released by the Doonhamers last summer and headed to Australia where he played for Melbourne side Sunshine George Cross.
Melbourne Victory boss Kevin Muscat – the former Rangers player – wanted to sign the attacker for the A-League side but Brotherston had to return home before the deal could be completed.
A deal with a team in Bulgaria collapsed at the last minute to leave Brotherston playing for Lowland League side Dalbeattie Star ahead of trials at Cowdenbeath and the Loons.
Both teams were keen to bring him on board but he has opted for the Station Park men.
Brotherston said: “I am delighted to be back playing senior football in Scotland. I left last year to try a couple of things and some worked and some didn’t.”
“I was a substitute in Saturday’s win over East Fife and got on for a couple of minutes.
“I am looking for more game time between now and the end of the season.”
