Honouring Ron Mailer
The Pars will hold a minute’s silence before tomorrow’s game following the passing of their 1961 Scottish Cup captain Ron Mailer.
Mailer, who was 85, began his career at Dunfermline and had a brief spell at Darlington before rejoining the Pars for a second stint in 1955.
The versatile righthalf went on to rack up 325 games for the East End Park men, most memorably in the 2-0 win over Celtic in the Scottish Cup final replay of 1961. He also played six times for the Fifers in Europe, including the famous 6-2 victory over Valencia in the Fairs Cup in 1962.
