Janette Mason
Rothes Halls, Glenrothes April 13
Pianist, arranger and composer Janette Mason has a diverse and lengthy career behind her, and her CV is impressive.
As a session and live touring keyboard player, particularly in the 1990s, her roster of artists worked with includes Oasis (on their 1996 MTV Unplugged show), Pulp, Robert Wyatt, Suzanne Vega, Seal and KD Lang, while she was also known onscreen as the musical director on Jonathan Ross’ show Saturday Zoo and Antoine “Eurotrash” de Caunes’ Le Show.
More recently she’s composed soundtracks for the films Ruby Blue (2007), starring Bob Hoskins, and The Calling (2009), with Brenda Blethyn, having already composed for the documentary about the feminist days of the Left Bank Paris Was a Woman (1996), while her music also appeared in episodes of Sex and the City and the Drew Carey Show.
Her albums include the amusingly-named Din and Tonic, D’Ranged and this month’s Red Alert, which this show will celebrate.
