Sentence deferred on woman who ‘lost the plot’ with partner
A Perth woman “lost the plot” and attacked her partner with a laptop computer and a pot plant.
Sharon Riley’s victim needed hospital treatment for a cut on his thigh after she turned on him when he returned from a visit to his father.
Perth Sheriff Court heard the man had to grapple Riley to the floor after she grabbed a knife from the kitchen.
A sheriff warned her he would be considering all options when it comes to sentencing her for the attack.
Riley, 48, of Fechney Park, admitted repeatedly striking her partner on the body with a laptop computer, hitting him with a cable and pot plant, throwing a glass at him and struggling with him after she picked up the knife.
The incident happened on June 25 2017 at a property in Watergate, Perth.
Depute fiscal Michael Sweeney said: “The partner had been visiting his father but when he returned to the house an argument broke out and she lost the plot.
“The accused hit the man with a laptop computer, struck him with a cable and pot plant.”
Riley also threw a glass containing vodka at her partner but missed him. When she picked up the knife, a “struggle” ensued.
“This resulted in the man taking Riley down to the floor and getting the knife off her,” said Mr Sweeney.
“The man suffered a one-anda-half centimetre laceration to his right thigh and he received medical treatment.”
Sheriff Christopher Shead deferred sentence to May 31, saying he would require background reports.
“All the sentencing options are open to me,” he told Riley.
