Bomb Trilogy plays in Birnam

-

The Birnam Institute Players are getting ready for their next production, a performance of The Bomb Trilogy by local multi-award-winning playwright Bob Davidson.

It will be staged at the group’s base at Birnam Arts next month.

The players have already performed the three plays in the festival of one-act plays organised by the Scottish Community Drama Association, the district round of which was held in Birnam at the beginning of March.

One of the three, Signature, went on to be performed at the divisional round of the competition. Because the plays had their debut performances in the festival, the scripts were eligible to be judged in the Scotland-wide Scott Salver Competition – run by the SCDA – and Bob was delighted to be informed that Signature had won the competition and was judged best original script 2018.

The other two scripts, Sub Contract and An Incident of Near International Proportions, were judged second and third. This is unique in the history of the SCDA, being the first time a playwright has taken the top three places. Bob won the competition in 2008 with his play Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!

The Bomb Trilogy consists of two comedies and one serious piece and covers the topics of atom bombs, terrorism and the UK’s nuclear deterrent.

All three plays will be performed at 7.30pm nightly from June 14 to 16.
