Advice for prospective residents
First-time house buyers can enjoy a barbecue while they receive mortgage advice and support at a summer extravaganza arranged for June 24 as part of the £40 million Muirton regeneration programme.
Prospective residents of the Muirton Living project are being offered free information and guidance from the Mortage Advice Bureau.
The event is being hosted by regeneration firm Urban Union, whose team will also be on hand to dispense information.
Visitors will also be able to quiz people who are already living in the area so they can get an idea of whether it’s the place for them.
It will begin at noon. Kirsty Robertson, of Urban Union, said: “This is the ideal event for anyone starting to think about home ownership. Some residents who have already moved into Muirton Living will also be there so it’s a great chance to find out first-hand what it is like to be a homeowner there.”
Houses at Muirton Living are eligible for Help To Buy assistance from the Scottish Government. The scheme helps approved home buyers get a new-build home with a 5% deposit.
More than 200 homes have been built as part of the Muirton regeneration project, with around half of them classed as affordable. Work began on the site, next to the former home of St Johnstone FC, Muirton Park, in 2006.
