PERTH
Three community events will be held in Perth Methodist Church over the coming weeks.
A coffee morning will be held tomorrow, between 10am and 1.30pm, with books and baking for sale.
Weekly Tuesday lunches begin on October 2.
A two-course menu will be served from noon, followed by tea, coffee and biscuits.
This will be followed by the monthly knit and natter session, from 2pm until 4pm.
A craft fair will be held on Saturday October 27 from 10am until 2pm.
EDUCATION
Author and historian Jo Woolf is the next guest speaker at the Perth’s University of the Third Age open meeting.
She will give a presentation in Letham Church on Monday, about her investigations into the archives held by the Royal Scottish Geographical Society.
Coffee and biscuits are on offer from 10am and the talk will begin at 10.30am. ALYTH
The new programme of Alyth Literary Society starts on Tuesday with guest speaker Paula Williams, curator at the National Library of Scotland.
Her talk, Petticoats and Pinnacles, unveils the hidden history of Scotland’s female mountaineers.
The meeting will be held in the Ogilvy Rooms, Commercial Street, at 7.30pm.
SCONE
Scone and District Historical Society is holding a coffee morning on Saturday October 6.
It starts at 10am in Scone Old Church hall and there will be a raffle and the opportunity to join the society or renew existing memberships.
The first meeting of the season will be held in the same location, at 7.30pm on Monday October 8.
Gordon Dow will give a presentation on glass in Perthshire.
Admission is free for members or £2 for visitors.
