Seminar to offer range of advice to owners of historic buildings
A seminar will be held in Perth this month to offer advice to owners and potential buyers of historic buildings.
Property experts will be on hand to give information on responsibilities and potential grant assistance.
The event, on November 13, will be staged by the Perthshire Solicitors Property Centre (PSPC), with support from the Perth City Heritage Fund and the Fife and Tayside Traditional Building Forum.
Sheena Wann, of the PSPC, said: “This builds on a successful event earlier in the year which attracted more than 80 people. The feedback was very positive.
“The theme will be ‘Caring for your Historic Building’ and it is open to all.
“Perth is blessed with a wide range of historic properties and listed buildings and we regularly see member legal firms marketing such properties on behalf of clients.”
Dr Gavin Lindsay, Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust research and engagement officer, said: “If you own or are considering buying a pre-1919 building then the seminar is a great way of discovering more about the features that give traditional buildings so much character and, crucially, a place to learn how best to maintain their condition and value.”
Topics being covered will include practical repair and maintenance advice, tips on timber windows and details of available grants.
The seminar will also focus on the latest phase of financial assistance available to homeowners in the Perth Central and Kinnoull conservation areas.
The event, at the Civic Chambers, will run from 5pm to 7pm.
