A sight to see
“Your recent articles on accumulators jogged my memory,” says JR Smith of Kirriemuir.
“In my birthplace there was a small garage where the owner also charged these accumulators.
“Of an evening all us wee kids would watch the man at work. He would get us in line and give the outside victims the wire to hold – one with the positive and the other the negative.
“Then he would switch it on with the remainder of us all holding hands. We must have been a sight to see, all vibrating until one let go his hand and broke the line.
“Well, we didn’t have the ‘telly’ back then!”
