Social Bite homes builder collapses

-

An innovative Scottish manufacturer of pre-fabricated timber buildings has collapsed into administration.

Invergordon-based CLDB, which traded as Caron Dynamic, was set up to design and build low-energy, adaptable modular homes.

The group’s designs were chosen last year for the nowcompleted 11-home Social Bite Homeless Village in Edinburgh.

Social Bite’s fundraising Sleep in the Park 2018 event takes place in cities across Scotland tonight.

The plug was pulled after the firm found itself facing cashflow difficulties as it neared completion of a major 78-module project.

Forty of the group’s 42 staff have been made redundant.

The two remaining employees will assist the administrators as they seek a buyer for the firm.

Joint administrator Blair Nimmo said: “We will be working with all affected employees and the relevant government agencies to ensure a full range of support is available.

“We are rapidly exploring the possibility of securing a sale of the company’s business and assets and would encourage any interested parties to contact us as soon as possible.”
