Ayr clash off because of high winds
The weather put paid to Ayr United’s hopes of stretching their lead at the top of the Championship last night.
The league leaders were looking to go five points clear of second-placed Ross County and nine ahead of Dundee United when they played host to Inverness at Somerset Park.
But match referee Craig Thomson decided that the wind was too strong to begin the clash between Ayr and the Highlanders, who are currently fourth in the table.
He took the decision only an hour before kick-off with the Inverness men already at the ground after a long journey south.
