Flyers need a repeat of tight victory

-

Fife Flyers look to build on Sunday’s 4-3 overtime win at Manchester, which snapped a six-game losing streak, when they host Coventry tonight at 7.15.

Todd Dutiaume’s men remain in fourth spot in the table with 30 points from 24 games, while Blaze have slipped down to eighth position with 21 points from 22 games after six straight defeats.

That’s a real concern for coach Danny Stewart, a former assistant coach/player at Fife.

He has brought highly-rated netminder Miroslav Kopriva back after Miika Wiikman left the club this week.

Kopriva previously iced 11 games when Wiikman was sidelined earlier this season.

Stewart said: “Getting Miro back is vital to help us get through a rough patch.

“We know what he brings and he knows what to expect.”

However, they go into the game minus Canadian forward Kelin Ainsworth, who has moved to a Danish team.

Coach Dutiaume does not want to see a repeat of the individual mistakes which cost his men dear in the 8-3 home reverse to Cardiff Devils last Saturday.

He stressed the need for his squad to play the right way and stick to their system. That would please home fans, who were far from happy after last Saturday’s defeat.
