Disorderly Celtic fans are still not identified
Dundee Football Club chiefs say the authorities have failed to identify Celtic fans who caused disorder at a recent match.
Supporters in the away end at the Premiership fixture on October 31 set off smoke bombs and allegedly threw pyrotechnics towards the home fans. No arrests were made on the night – but police vowed to investigate the fans’ behaviour “with a view to identifying those involved in criminal behaviour and taking appropriate action in due course”.
However, a statement issued by Dundee FC in response to a number of issues being raised by fans said: “CCTV footage was reviewed at the time and postmatch in an attempt to identify the culprits but unfortunately nothing conclusive could be found from the five cameras positioned within the ground.”
The club added that matchday procedures would be reviewed after a “small number” of fireworks and smoke devices were smuggled into the game.
Policing at the game cost Dundee FC £3,952, compared to £1,364 paid out for the Hearts match the previous week.
