Warriors are left battered and bruised

Glasgow will focus on recovery after a bonuspoint win over Lyon in the first part of their Heineken Champions Cup doubleheader against the Top 14 side.

Two tries from Adam Ashe and one each from George Horne, Stuart Hogg and Huw Jones helped Warriors to an emphatic 42-22 triumph in France.

Warriors moved top of Pool 3 at the halfway stage but a physical encounter on a muddy pitch at the Stade de Gerland took its toll ahead of the return match at Scotstoun next Saturday.

Head coach Dave Rennie, pictured, said: “It’s a beautiful stadium but the pitch is pretty heavy, the ground was getting churned up at every scrum.

“We’re used to a firm surface at home so we’ve got some pretty tired legs especially because it was such a physical game. Lyon like to play a lot of footy and they challenged us all over the park.

“We’ll put a very strong side on the field next week and there will be changes. There is not an awful lot between a lot of our boys.”
