Event will discuss many hot potatoes
Advances in irrigation and the implications of one of the hottest and driest seasons on record will be key topics at a potato industry event in Perth next month.
Resilience – the key to future profitability is the theme of the SAC Association of Potato Producers’ conference
Speakers include industry expert Philip Benzie from Gairnieston, Aberdeenshire, who will explain the challenges of managing one of the largest potato enterprises in the country while Professor Jerry Knox from Cranfield University will outline the latest advances in irrigation.
SRUC’s Robin Walker and Cathy Hawes from the James Hutton Institute will present research findings from Scotland’s longest-running trials on potato crop rotation. There will also be a potato cookery demonstration from the hospitality department at SRUC’s Elmwood campus in Fife.
The conference on January 30 is free to SACAPP members and open to non-members. To attend, email Janis.forrest@sac. co.uk or call 0131 603 7525.
