A Lathallan education is money well spent

-

At Lathallan School they firmly believe that investment in a child’s early education is money well spent.

They also realise that making the first step towards an independent education can be daunting.

Many parents don’t know where to start or how much it will cost them.

That’s why Lathallan, an independent day and boarding school just north of Montrose, is giving parents a helping hand up the first step of an inspiring independent education.

For new pupils entering Junior 1 or Junior 2 at the start of August 2019, the Johnshaven-based school has launched Lathallan Pathways.

Lathallan Pathways makes it more affordable to take that first step, with annual fees of £7,950 for Junior 1 and Junior 2 pupils who join at the start of August.

This represents the best value for early years education in the north-east of Scotland with a price that also compares favourably to the current cost of a fulltime nursery place.

Lathallan also makes it easier for new pupils to sign up for the Senior School and will be hosting S1 Scholarship Days on January 29 and 30.

For talented young people who show real potential academically, in rugby, netball, sport, music, art, drama, bagpipes and marching drums – or as an all-rounder – a scholarship can open the doors to an inspiring education at Lathallan.

Lathallan has some of the smallest class sizes in Scotland, with an average of just 12 pupils in each one.

This means pupils receive the individual attention of Lathallan’s specialist teachers to help them on their learning journey.

In the Junior School, pupils enjoy specialist teaching in science, French, music, art and physical education – giving them advanced learning opportunities and a smoother transition into the Senior School. The school also offers sector-leading outdoor learning in its extensive grounds which boast a treehouse classroom, a new state-of-theart science centre and an on-site school farm.

From harvesting potatoes to tending to the school’s chickens or pigs, Lathallan’s farm is unique.

As the leading independent school for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award for the past four years, Lathallan has the highest percentage of sign-up and completion at Bronze, Silver and Gold.

It is achievements like this – and the wealth of outdoor learning opportunities on offer at Lathallan – that Education Scotland believe should be shared with other schools across the country.

In a recently-published inspection report on Lathallan, Education Scotland highlighted: “The high-quality outdoor learning provision, where teachers and instructors enable every child and young person to benefit from a rich and engaging outdoor learning environment beyond the school classroom.”

To discover how your child can be part of this “engaging” learning environment as a J1 or J2 through Lathallan Pathways, to register for S1 Scholarship Days or enquire about anything else please contact admissions officer Naomi Maiden on admissions@lathallan.org.uk
