Betty Bowman has been in touch to say: “In reply to Craigie Regular who talks about spelling and the difficulties with some words which don’t seem to conform to the rules, I was always taught at school: ‘If in doubt refer to the rule: “I comes before e except after c and in the words seize, seizure and neither”.
“I am also appalled at the wrong use of the apostrophy, for instance ‘curio’s’ and ‘wine’s.’”
