Garden centres and Wendy houses, have I missed Spring?

-

Idon’t know if you noticed, but there was a very brief window of Spring at the weekend. Who knows what the weather will be doing by the time you read this, but during the slightly-less-than-Baltic spell, Mr P and myself did what many of us do on such occasions and headed off to a garden centre.

As my regular reader is aware, I am not a great outdoors person, but I do enjoy sitting in our small garden, G&T in hand, offering encouragement as Mr P does whatever it is that people do in gardens.

I also like a garden centre, mainly due to the amazing amounts of random stuff they contain. Stone animals, bags of sweeties you last saw in the 1970s and best of all, if it’s a large garden centre, a selection of sheds/summer houses/ garden offices.

I can spend an embarrassing amount of time imagining having a big enough garden to contain such a structure and finally achieving my childhood dream of having my own Wendy house.

We got home and I prepared for sitting in the garden whilst Mr P took lawn feed stuff outside. When I got upstairs, I realised I hadn’t done my annual text to my brother, reminding him of our mother’s birthday this week. I texted and was apparently the third sister to have done so, so he was less grateful than I might have expected.

Called one of the sisters to have a general moan about ungrateful family members and had a lovely chat about how nice the weather was where she lives. Compared notes on Wendy house specs.

I then had a look in the wardrobe and decided to whittle out some of the more heavy winter items just in case the milder spell settled in. This then involved trying on clothes I hadn’t worn since last spring and deciding they were all hideous. A quick online browse of clothes I might like instead.

Finally went outside to find it was dark. I seem to have missed Spring completely. Blast.
