The Highlanders to host charity night
Following their widely covered expedition to Mongolia, the Highlanders are hosting a charity evening this weekend in Perth. Last year, Jo and Gordon, the charity ambassadors, took their two tartan 25-year old Ford Fiestas and travelled over 22,000 miles in 8 weeks. They visited 28 different countries, whilst raising a staggering £16,000 for the charity Findacure. Jo and Gordon hope to add to their fundraising efforts with a night of wine, cheese and entertainment. Jo Williamson, a renowned wine connoisseur who took part in the expedition, will be guiding you through eight different wines (one for each week of the expedition) from across the Old and The New World. You will have the chance to discuss the wines with your friends and family, whilst making the most of unlimited cheese and biscuits. The George Hotel in Perth will host the evening, starting at 7:30pm. Tickets are ONLY £25.00 each, and all proceeds will go to the Findacure charity. Finadcure raises funds to carry out critical medical research about a hereditary tumour, known as pheochromocytoma (pheo). Unfortunately, Jo’s son and daughter both suffer from this medical condition. The format of the evening is an introductory welcome by Gordon, followed by a short talk on the serious medical condition. Gordon will then talk more about how the trip came about. After this, the Wine Tasting will commence. Questions are encouraged, whatever your knowledge of wine. The Highlanders will share their extraordinary journey with hilarious anecdotes, outlandish moments and real human (and old rusty car) endurance. A very limited number of tickets are available at The George Hotel. For further information, call Gordon on 07860600400.
