Dundee United’s season reaches a nerve-shredding crescendo, with promotion the glittering prize that could await them.

The Tangerines head to Paisley tomorrow all square with St Mirren following a goalless first leg of the Premiership playoff final at Tannadice on Thursday.

Initial frustration at not securing a lead against the Buddies has made way for a genuine belief that a return to the top flight is still within theTannadice team’s grasp.

United full-back Jamie Robson said: “The club is equipped to go up and I think the team is good enough.

“However, it’s just about getting over that final hurdle this time. I hope it’s different this time and I feel more positive about it than I did in previous seasons.

“I think all the players feel like that, as do the fans and the city as a whole.”
