Stasa lands best price

Aberdeensh­ire breeder Stasa Moyse led the charge at the spring spectacula­r sale of Blue Texels at Carlisle.

Ms Moyse, who runs the Saltire Blue flock at Woolhilloc­k, Skene, achieved the top price of 2,800gn for a pair of embryo lambs with their recipient dam.

Next best at 1,800gn was another Saltire Blue entry – 2017-born ewe, Saltire Blue Britney, by Hackney Your Joking. She sold with twin lambs, by Caryl’s Blue Captain, to Messrs Sinclair, Crookston, Midlothian.

Ms Moyse also made 1,600gn for another embyro lamb and her recipient dam – Saltire Blue Destiny, by Caryl’s Blue Captain – and 1,200gn each for four ewe lambs, all by Hackney Your Joking.

Sale averages: ewes with lambs, five, £1,071 (+£152.25); empty ewe hoggs, 10, £1,023.75 (+ £282.190); recipient ewes with lambs at foot, £958.12 (+£266.17).
