First half goal sinks Saints

St Andrews United will feel like they deserved something from last night’s Central Taxis East of Scotland League Conference A game at Peffermill.

They dominated for large periods against Leith Athletic but the only goal of the game came in the first half for the Edinburgh side after 23 minutes when Daniel Garvey volleyed home.

Glenrothes missed out on the chance to go above Inverkeith­ing Hillfield Swifts at the top of Conference B as they went down 2-0 at Tynecastle. Jordan Smith scored both goals for the Edinburgh side.

Conference B – Dalkeith Th 2 Tweedmouth Rangers 2, Tynecastle 2 Glenrothes 0.

Kinnoull will be looking to continue their 100% record in Conference A as they travel to Fife to face Oakley United at Blairwood Park tonight.

However, victory for the home side will see Stewart Kenny’s men draw level with Kinnoull.

Inverkeith­ing Hillfield Swifts tasted defeat at home to Dalkeith Thistle at the weekend leaving manager Lee Duffy hoping his side can return to the form that sees them top Conference B.

The Fife side travel to take on Stirling University EOS at Gannochy Sports Centre. Tonight’s fixtures Central Taxis East of Scotland League First Division Conference A – Craigroyst­on v Haddington, Dunipace v Peebles, Oakley United v Kinnoull.
