At the present moment, the city’s harbour presents a fairly busy appearance, and there are bright prospects of the reopening of the “regular” trade soon. Dundee stands in a very favourable position. Search teams last night recovered the bodies of the two-man crew of an RAF jet which ploughed into a Perthshire hillside. Flight Lieutenant Peter Mosley, 31, the pilot, from Torquay, and Flight Lieutenant Patrick Harrison, 33, the navigator, from Ayrshire, were found in the wreckage of the RAF Tornado. This suggested they had no time to eject. The GR1 bomber, based at RAF Marham in Norfolk, went down in an area used for low-flying. It crashed in hill country near Glenogie, strewing wreckage over a wide area.

Rat runners using a historic Perth graveyard as a shortcut have been blamed for gates being locked. One of two entrances to Jeanfield Cemetery has been blocked to drivers to stop them speeding through while people grieve. Senior Perth and Kinross councillor Angus Forbes confirmed the vehicle entrance at Rannoch Road will be locked to protect pedestrians. “It shows a marked lack of respect and is not an appropriate use of the cemetery,” he said. Jeanfield Cemetery is home to hundreds of historic war graves.
