Gunners strike back to deny Spurs victory

-

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rescued a point for Arsenal as they fought back from two goals behind to draw 2-2 at home to Tottenham in the first north London derby of the season.

Spurs have not won a league game at the Emirates Stadium since November 2010 and were pegged back having appeared on course to break that duck after Christian Eriksen’s 50th Premier League goal and Harry Kane’s penalty put them in prime position.

But, after mistakes from Bernd Leno and Granit Xhaka had left them vulnerable, Unai Emery’s Gunners fought back, Alexandre Lacazette pulling one back in first-half stoppage time before Aubameyang equalised in a frenetic second half.

Richarlison scored twice in a manic game at Goodison Park as Everton twice recovered from being pegged back by Wolves to win 3-2.

The Brazil international scored the first and last goals –Alex Iwobi netted the other – of an odd affair which lurched between moments of quality, to a long spell of mediocrity and back again in an entertaining finish.

Romain Saiss and Raul Jimenez twice pulled Wolves level.

Liverpool had cruised back to the top of the table on Saturday night by extending their 100% record to four matches with a 3-0 win at Burnley.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were knocked off top spot for a few hours by Manchester City’s routine 4-0 home victory over Brighton.

But Liverpool leapfrogged City by claiming a club-record 13th straight league win at Turf Moor.

Manchester United were held 1-1 by 10-man Southampton.

Tammy Abraham kept his fine scoring run going with another double, but Chelsea were stunned as Sheffield United fought back to draw 2-2 at Stamford Bridge.

Jamie Vardy scored twice as Leicester overcame Bournemouth 3-1 to maintain their unbeaten record while West Ham claimed a second successive league win with a 2-0 home victory over Norwich.

Crystal Palace beat Aston Villa 1-0 in a controversial clash at Selhurst Park with the visitors reduced to 10 men with Trezeguet shown a second yellow card after 54 minutes.

Watford claimed their first point of the season in a 1-1 draw at Newcastle but remain bottom.
