Festival of the arts

-

An Arts and Music Festival will be held in Dundee Parish Church (St Mary’s) from Thursday, September 26 to Sunday, 29th. All proceeds arising from the festival will go to charity.

“We are supporting Scottish Air Ambulance and Rachel House, Kinross, says organiser George Cowieson. “Two members of the community, actively involved in the support of Chas, will open our festival, along with a representative from Scottish Air Ambulance and the Reverend Keith Hall.

“There will be an exhibition and sale of art and craft work, including paintings, mosaics, textiles, embroidery, floral displays and an exhibition of quilting by a local group, Coastline Quilters.”

The art and crafts part of the event will run from 10.30am-4pm from Thursday, September 26 to Saturday, 28th. The Discovery Bach Cantata Project, a local group of singers conducted by Graeme Stevenson, will perform in the church on Saturday from 1-1.45pm as an interlude to the exhibition.

Entry to the exhibition will cost £3 which includes refreshments.

On Sunday, September 29 at 6pm, The St Mary’s Festival Chorus will perform Mozart’s Vespers and Michael Haydn’s Responsoria.

The orchestra will perform Stamitz’s Clarinet Concerto No.4 in B flat, choir and orchestra conducted by Graeme Stevenson.

Those attending will be asked for a £5 minimum donation for this concert. Children under 16 are free to all events.

“We have had concerts in the church but never a Music and Arts Festival so this is a first for us,” says George.
