Thousands more was raised to help sick children last night as the Aberdeen Oor Wullie statues went under the hammer.

A total of £314,900 was raised when 50 depictions of the cheeky Dundee character were sold.

The top fetching statue on the night was The Amazing Oor Wullie, which went for £15,500.

It was the second auction night of the week, following the £239,000 raised in Dundee on Monday night when 39 statues were sold.

Last night’s auction, which also saw the handful of Inverness statues sold, took place in Inverurie. The money raised will go to The ARCHIE Foundation.

This year’s Bucket Trail was the first to take place throughout Scotland and further auctions take place this week in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
